Baby Massage

"...the vital elements which strengthen bonds are eye contact, skin contact, vocalisation and communication ..." Vimala McClure, Founder of the International Association of Infant Massage

Next four week baby massage course will be commencing on February 28th.

The class introduces massage techniques for different parts of the body over 4 weeks, allowing time for baby to get used to massage and for mum to become confident doing the massage.

The class is also a great opportunity to meet other mums and babies and of course to have some fun.

Baby massage is an ancient tradition in so many cultures around the world.  Here in the west we are relearning how to communicate with our babies through touch.

What are some of the benefits of baby massage?

  • maintains and strengthens affectionate bonds between parents and infant
  • tones and relaxes all the muscles of the body making baby calmer
  • can improve baby's sleep patterns
  • supports growth and development of the body
  • aids digestion
  • helps deal with wind and constipation
  • can help with colic (using colic routine)
  • boosts baby's immune system
  • helps develop speech through use of rhymes and song throughout the massage.
